Tamar Eluned Williams

Tamar Eluned Williams is an award-winning professional storyteller, theatre maker and workshop leader. Having grown up in Wales, Tamar works bilingually, telling stories in both English and Welsh, and has a special passion for myth and legend.

After training in theatre, she worked as a director and drama practitioner before becoming a full-time storyteller. Tamar now works all over the world and in a range of different settings, from festivals, classrooms and museums to beaches, stone circles and even the top deck of the number 45 bus in Birmingham.

Alongside her performance work, Tamar undertakes writing commissions, collaborates with other storytellers and musicians, and co-produces a bi-monthly story night in Bristol. She also works as an Engagement Coordinator for Beyond the Border International Storytelling Festival.

About the course

Tamar works in a variety of different settings and locations, but she specialises in working in schools. She regularly gives storytelling performances and also runs storytelling and storymaking workshops for children of all ages and backgrounds. During lockdown, Tamar managed to continue her work with children, despite schools being shut. Working on a commission from Literature Wales, she developed a home storytelling kit for families to use during lockdown. The kit contains recordings of stories in both Welsh and English, as well as a variety of activities for parents to do at home with KS2 children to boost their storytelling skills, confidence and creativity.

With this in mind, she has expertly crafted a course designed to show teachers how to utilise storytelling in their classrooms, combining traditional storytelling and modern mediums to engage students in enriching storytelling experiences.
